Happy Valentine's Day

Today is going to be a quiet day around here. It's snowing..... again. Will it ever stop? Let me be the first to tell you that when I do a layout about things I love most, snow will not be included.

Since it is Valentine's Day, I would like to share a scrapbook page I recently completed. It does show the 2 people I love most in this world....

SS&M, New Lines, New Layouts

Yeah, I know.... this "keeping up with the blog" thing just isn't going so well. But, I did want to pop in to express my excitment about the new lines SS&M are coming out with (debuted them at CHA in January). A new sports lines, "Sports on the Edge", and an aminal line, "Down On The Farm". I've been creating with those lines over the last couple of weeks - these are fun papers!

The first layout uses the basketball "On The Edge" paper. Our basketball teams sold Madrid Hoops t-shirts to raise money for the Coaches vs. Cancer organization. It hit home with so many of the kids having watched as Mr. Cosens fought this dreaded disease.
The second layout is of Michael and Toby. It uses the dog paper and cardstock stickers from the "Down On The Farm" line. I had a tough time coming up with a title for this one..... does a boy need a dog or does the dog need the boy????
Thanks for looking! Hope you like the new papers.

Shuttercal

Whatever was I thinking? I signed up on Shuttercal for 2010. It's a calendar-picture-a-day-thing. It encourages users to take a picture a day to document your life over the course of the year. The concept is good, but c'mon..... I go months without updating this blog. HOW am I ever going to keep up with the photo a day???? It's a challenge. I need more challenge in my life, right?

Actually, I think it's a reaction to the fact that my "home away from home" on the web for the last 7 years closed. Lifetime Moments is no more. It's so sad. I can't even tell you how many people I've met and become good friends with thru the site - from California, to Virginia, to Texas and Minnesota... man, I've met some of the most wonderful people in the world thru LM. I got to go to the first Crop of a Lifetime in San Diego as well as attend a LM crop in Detroit. While some may laugh when I tell people I scrapbook. To me, not only has it allowed our family's life to be documented, but it's brought me true friendship. That's hard to find these days. So here's to LM.... I'm going to miss you!

Since we are talking about scrappin', here's another little lo I finished up last night. It's for a Pagemaps sketch contest. Addi & Tierney... can they be any cuter???
The pinks of greens of the Scrappin' Sports and more dance papers were perfect for this layout along with a bit of red from the family line and some green from the Name of the game line. Love this lo.

Here's to 2010

Today we usher in a new year. So long 2009, welcome 2010! Today Micah and I have plans to go shopping for a while. A little retail therapy is a good way to start the year, don'tcha think? So while I wait for her to get home so we can head out, I'm going to take the time to update this long, ignored blog and then I'm going to try to get a layout scrapped too.

Here's one I finished last night - papers used are all from Scrappin' Sports and More football papers along with some Prism cardstock. We were all pleased when Michael was able to get that ol' #61 back for his sophomore year at BVU.
Well, time to get off the computer. The Rose Bowl Parade is on and I want to see the floats and scrap a while.

Blog Revival Bombing

So I made it 2 days in a row posting to my blog... yes TWO. Then I forgot for few days. I'm happy to say that I'M BACK!!!! I know, I know, you've missed me. So once again I'll try to be a little more consistant in posting.

The last couple of days have had some interesting twists and turns. Michael sent me a text Wednesday night..... "I have to have my forearm x-rayed." Yep, that's all. No explanation, no nothin'. So I call him.

Me: "What's going on?"
Michael: "My arm's been hit a few times. It's been swollen for over a week and hasn't gone down. They want me to have it checked out."
Me: "Does it hurt?" (yeah, yeah, I know Captain Obvious, but had to ask)
Michael: "A little."
Me: "When are getting the x-ray?"
Michael: "Tomorrow."
Yada, yada, yada......

Thursday I was on pins and needles waiting to hear from him. Finally around 4:00 I text him. Finally hear back from him a little after 6:00.

Me: "What'd you find out?"
Michael: "Having it x-rayed on Monday instead."
Me: "Why?"
Michael: "If they x-ray it today and it's broke, they'll have to cast it. If they cast it I won't be able to suit for Saturday's game."
Oh the priorities......

As much as I wanted to reach thru the phone and take him to get it checked out right now, the football mom in me understands why he choose to wait. Let's just hope it's not broken. I'll keep you posted. I'll probably post pictures.

The BVU Beavers play Wisc., Platteville tomorrow. Go Beavers Go!

Day 2 of the Revivial

Here I am again. Posting. To my blog. For the 2nd day in a row. What do they say? It takes 6 weeks to develop a habit. Let's hope I can develop a habit of posting to this blog in less than that.

Thought I should share with you all a couple of cards that I last night using Scrappin' Sports and More paper and a couple of rubber stamps from my rarely used stamp collection - I was challenged to make a few stamped cards to submit to a publication, StampIt! Cards. So, without further ado, here they are:

This first one obviously is for a graduation. The stamp used for the title is by Wordsworth by Rubber Soul. All paper is from SS&M. The tags are made by Making Memores. I used our local school colors on this one, so I'll put it in my card stash so it's ready to be used next May. I'm getting a head start already!

I'll post my other card tomorrow (gotta save up something to post on day 3 of the new revival, now don't I?).

Playing Catch-Up

Long time, no post..... it's time to rejuvenate this blog. May just have to make an early New Year's resolution to make a better effort posting on this blog. It's probably been lonely since I haven't updated in ummmmm.... yeah, 6 months.

So, Let's Get This Party Started, as one of my favorite singers would say.... anyone else like Pink? I was listening to my itunes the other day and some of her songs came on. Made me realize just how much I like her music so, I went out and bought one of her CD's. I've been jamming out to her ever since.

And.... while I've been jamming out, I've also been scrappin'. I know, imagine that. Here's my latest creation. Micah will hate me for posting this picture on line because she doesn't like it, but I do. And, since it's my blog, I get to post whatever I want to. Anywhoooo... love this picture of the kids. I just think it epitomizes the relationship they have with one another..... well, that was until I say a post on one of their facebook photo albums - name calling! One called the other a WIERDO and the other replied back with Loser. Can you feel the love?

This layout is based on a sketch by Becky Fleck. She's running a contest this month using the sketch so I think I'll enter.
